Addiction to Porn

Addiction to Porn

Pornography has been around in one form or another for thousands of years. The internet transformed it. Anyone, anywhere on the planet can freely access it, at any time. It has been said you are never more than two clicks away from porn so what may have been a passing curiosity can quickly turn into a compulsion. Some believe there is no harm in it while others tell themselves it’s all wrong and feel a sense of disgust so whatever your moral views, on whether it’s right or wrong, compulsive porn viewing is an addiction like any other, and wrecks lives.

The curious thing about porn addiction has less to do with sex but more about escapism. For example in the beginning, someone might experiment with drugs to feel better but in the end they take drugs to stop themselves feeling worse in other words what they were using to escape, traps them. Same with porn.

Before you know it, the more you view, the more you want to view and over time, the more extreme it has to be; in other words porn addiction is a lie because it never delivers what it promises and like any other addictive behaviour, it’s a time thief. It gets in the way of what’s really important and destroys motivation. Without motivation, plans and achievements are stolen, hollowing out and depleting your life.

Addiction makes it difficult to focus or concentrate on anything and it takes more than ‘will power’ to break free and reclaim your life.

How can hypnosis help?

Hypnosis breaks the negative self-hypnotic trance promulgated by viewing porn, helping you to regain control and focus on other matters and to establish alternatives to meet your emotional needs.
