For sufferers the fear of flying isn’t conquered from the reassurance that statistically, it’s the safest and probably the most boring form of travel; the fear of flying affects a significant number of people preventing them from visiting overseas business clients or enjoying faraway places on holiday with their families.
Sufferers often start becoming anxious as soon as a foreign holiday is booked. The pressure builds as the holiday draws closer with feelings become more intense arriving at the airport. The thoughts of the forthcoming ordeal of being so high up and/or confined in a closed space often become so frightening that the only way they can step onto a plane is either through plenty of alcohol in the departure lounge or medication to reduce the anxiety. From the turbulence to the varying sounds an aircraft makes during flight, all these add to the anxiety.
Once the sufferer is comfortably relaxed, hypnosis aims to desensitise the sufferer from the feelings of anxiety, providing reassurance yet remaining comfortably relaxed throughout. This process empowers the sufferer to be in complete control of their thoughts and manage their feelings allowing them to look forward to important business meetings or just spending some downtime relaxing in the sun.
